Upcycle | Simple Upcycled Pallet Radiator Cover

A radiator cover is a great way to decorate the space and to hide a radiator, which doesn’t look very stylish. The space above a radiator is generally wasted, so a radiator cover might be not only aesthetic but practical solution too, especially for those living in small spaces. The entry hall in my home is small and narrow and I didn’t like the dull look of the radiator in the middle of the wall, so the radiator cover was a perfect idea.

Radiatoriaus uždengimas yra puikus būdas pagražinti erdvę ir paslėpti neestetišką radiatorių. Paprastai erdvė virš radiatoriaus lieka neišnaudota, todėl radiatoriaus uždengimas gali būti ne tik estetiškas, bet ir praktiškas sprendimas, ypatingai gyvenantiems mažose erdėvese. Mano namuose koridorius yra labai nedidelis ir siauras, o viduryje sienos esantis radiatorius trukdė pastatyti staliuką iš bet kurios pusės (o ir neatrodė labai dailiai), tad radiatoriaus uždegimas tapo tikru išsigelbėjimu.

I picked up an extra pallet from the Bristol Wood Recycling Project when I was selecting pallets for my Upcycled Pallet bed. I prepared Radiator cover pallet in exactly the same way as bed pallets – sanded them down and used white paint leftovers from the bed project. I got the top board from my brother so the total cost of the radiator cover was only £2! This is how much I paid for the pallet but you can easily get them for free.

PS.: to prevent pallet tip over accidents, we secured it to the wall with furniture straps

Papildomą paletę radiatoriaus uždengimui paėmiau iš medžio perdirbimo centro tuo pačiu metu, kuomet rinkausi paletes lovos gamybai. Radiatoriaus uždengimą ruošiau lygiai taip pat kaip ir paletes lovai – nušlifavau ir nudažiau dažais, likusiais nuo lovos palečių dažymo. O viršutinę lentą pasiėmiau iš brolio, taigi visas radiatoriaus uždengimas man tekainavo 2 svarus! Tiek sumokėjau už paletę, tačiau jų lengvai galima gauti ir nemokamai.

PS.: paletę prie sienos vyras pritvirtino specialiomis juostelėmis, kurias naudoja baldų tvirtinimui dėl vaikų saugumo

Instead of dull radiator look, I have a space to style some decorative items – plants, my vintage lamp and candlesticks. I imagine the vintage or rattan style mirror would look nice, however, since I am on My Year Without Shopping Challenge I am not striving for the perfect look. I decided to hang my vintage blackboard frame there, maybe I will write some welcome message on it. I like how pallet radiator cover compliments my interior and gives a cohesive whole with my pallet bed.

A lot of people asked me, would the cover affect heating – I think it would, however, that’s not an issue for me as we never us this radiator.

Vietoj nuobodaus radiatoriaus, dabar turiu erdvę, kurią galiu užpildyti interjero detalėmis – augalai, mano vintažinė lempa, žvakidės. Įsivaizduoju, kad nuostabiai viršuje atrodytų vintažinis arba šiaudinio stiliaus veidrodis, tačiau Metai be apsipirkinėjimo išmokė apsieiti su tuo ką turiu nesiekiant perfekcionizmo. Viršuje tiesiog pakabinau vitažinę lentą, kurioje planuoju užrašyti ką nors smagaus ir įdomaus. Šis radiatoriaus uždengimas suteikia mano namams unikalumo ir dera su palečių lova.

Iškart žinau, kad kils klausimas ar radiatorius sumažina šilumos pralaidumą – turbūt sumažina, tačiau man tai nei kiek nesvarbu, kadangi šis radiatorius nenaudojamas.
