Verona is one of the most romantic cities in the world. Yes, not Paris – Verona. It’s a city in northern Italy and famous for being the setting of the most romantic love tragedy in the history Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” It’s home to a 14th-century house said to be “Juliet’s house” (Casa di Giulietta). Even though the building’s connection to the play is fictional, there is a shred of a connection is the fact that the house was probably once the home of the Cappello family — who may have been the model for the Capulets of Romeo and Juliet.

When we arrived Juliet house was flooded with tourists. We were visiting Verona on Valentines day, therefore I believe it was super busy 🙂 I have to admit, the atmosphere there is magical 🙂 So many loving hearts in one place: couples kissing in Juliet’s balcony, walls with secret messages and notes, girls whispering love spells, couples taking pictures and promising never ending love…

To feel the Juliet’s House atmosphere I can recommend a romantic film “Letters to Juliet”.  The film told the story of a young American tourist who stumbles on one such missive shoved behind a loose brick in the courtyard beneath Juliet’s balcony. She discovers that it was written more than 50 years before and the story begins 🙂

The narrow street near the Juliet’s House was full of people and smelled like love, strawberries, and chocolate. We decided to find a more quiet place to eat and went for traditional Italian pizza. During all the holiday in Italy, we didn’t have a chance to try real Italian pizza and assumed this is the perfect time for our last day in Italy 🙂 By the way, Italians love fabric napkins. Even the smalles piceria would provide fabric cloths instead of single use paper napkins, which is not only eco-friendly but also looks very stylish and subtile.

However, Juliet’s House is not the only thing to see in Verona. Verona is also famed for its grand Arena, a 1st-century the third largest Roman amphitheatre still hosting concerts and an annual opera festival. Unfortunately, we were unable to enjoy Verona all day as the rain made our walk unpleasant in the afternoon but half day in Verona is not enough 🙂
Tačiau Džiuljetos Namas nėra vienintelis garsus objektas Veronoje. Verona gali pasigirti trečiuoju pagal dydį romėnų amfiteatru. Nors statytas dar pirmame amžiuje, tačiau jame vis dar organizuojami įvairūs renginiai ir kasmetins operos festivalis. Labai gaila, kad ilgesniam pasivaikščiojimui po Veroną mums sutrukdė stiprus lietus, bet pusdienio šiame nuostabiame mieste tikrai nepakanka 🙂
